Using QuickBooks® Software To Write Checks

QuickBooks® is the most popular accounting software for businesses, and countless payers rely on QuickBooks® to write their checks. You can print checks directly from your QuickBooks® software, which is part of why the software is so popular.

QuickBooks® allows its users to print checks in at least two layouts:

Once you have your checks and are ready to write out a check through Quickbooks® software, follow these steps.

From there, you can save the check and close QuickBooks®, or save and create a new check. You can watch a video tutorial for writing and printing checks using QuickBooks® here.

Tech Checks’ offers checks that are compatible with Quickbooks® software.

Check Alignment Issues

Some QuickBooks® users have difficulty aligning checks properly, at least when they begin using the software. Issues may vary depending on your operating system, check stock, and other unique factors. The best way to resolve alignment issues is to refer to previously asked questions on the Quickbooks Community. If it comes to it, ask your question there or contact customer support.

QuickBooks® Online, QuickBooks® Desktop, and Check Envelope Compatibility

As the most popular accounting software on the market, QuickBooks® software has become a staple for many businesses that write checks regularly. Two popular subsets of the QuickBooks® product suite are QuickBooks® Online and QuickBooks® Desktop. Let’s dive a bit into the features of each of these products.

QuickBooks® Online

QuickBooks® has made its array of features easily accessible online through the QuickBooks® Online product. This is a cloud-accessible form of the Quickbooks® accounting suite, one of the most popular among those who print checks. Read more about the features included with QuickBooks® Online.

QuickBooks® Desktop

QuickBooks® Desktop is a desktop version of the accounting software that is not cloud-based. Quickbooks®  offers several payroll-specific services. You can view which QB products offer which payroll services here.

Envelopes Compatible with QuickBooks® Software

All checks that you write using QuickBooks® software will be computer checks. For computer checks, we recommend using double-window security envelopes made specifically for checks. These envelopes show only the business name as well as the recipient's name and address. These double-window envelopes come in two sizes:

  • 8 5/8” x 3 5/8.”
  • 6 1/4” x 3.”

Having two windows saves you time on addressing and will work perfectly with your Quickbooks® -printed checks.

You can also use windowless imprinted envelopes or single window imprinted envelopes found here. The single-window checks can also save you time on addressing by showing the recipient name, while a windowless imprinted envelope will show only what you write on the front and any company logo you elect to have printed on the envelope.
